Utilizing modern music technology to aid the learning process

Electronic drumming has come a long way in recent years. E-kits used to offer very little in the way of transferability to traditional acoustic kits; the pads were all rubber, single zone, and insensitive, resulting in an unrealistic feel and sounds with very little to no dynamic range. More recently, electronic drum kit makers have stepped up to design instruments that much more closely resemble their acoustic counterparts.

The East Coast Drum Works Studio has been armed to the teeth with the cutting edge of modern drumming technology. Most students will be using the Roland TD27KV-2 (2nd photo), one of the highest end electronic kits currently on the market. Your instructor, along with students who are unable to reach the pedals of the Roland kit, will be using the Alesis Nitro Mesh (3rd photo). Both kits will running samples through Steven Slate Drums 5.5 to offer far more realistic sounds over stock samples, and output through an interface so both kits (along with music) can be heard in real time without latency.
